and just in time to remind you of our potluck tonight!

Reslife is looking for

RESIDENCE TOUR GUIDES

for UW Day on Saturday November 4th.
They have asked me to find about 5 MKV students who would be interested in giving tours and showing their rooms.

Tours will be taking place 9am to 4pm that day. You will be paid $8.50 an hour.

The requirements are:

You need to be available for training this saturday (October 28th)
Your room/suite must be clean and tidy.

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.

I will fill the spots on a first come first serve basis.

GLOW is celebrating Coming Out Week from October 15th to 21st, and you're all invited to show your support for the queer community!

Coming Out Day, usually observed on October 11th, commemorates thefirst march for gay and lesbian rights on this date in 1988.

Today,many university and college campuses hold awareness-raising eventsthroughout the month to promote visibility and understanding of LGBTQ issues, and to encourage queer-identified students to feel positiveabout their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

What happened to Gertrude?

Maybe Hans is a widower...

or has picked up with this Frieda character and so Gertrude said enough was enough and packed her bags to go back to Germany?

Now that you're all residents in Kitchener-Waterloo you ought to know a bit about the big bavarian festival that's starting up around these parts.

K-W was settled by Germans back in the day and originally held the name "Berlin". The city was renamed Kitchener after World War II... Because of this background our city has celebrated Oktoberfest for many years. Incidentally, we have one of the largest festivals in the world, second only to Munich!

Here's some facts about the german Oktoberfest as found on Wikipedia:

• The first "Oktoberfest" took place on October 12, 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen...

• 30% of the year's production of beer by Munich breweries will be consumed in the two weeks of Oktoberfest.
• 12,000 People are employed at the Oktoberfest. Of these, 1600 are waitresses.
• There is available seating for 100,000 people.
• Roasted oxen: 88
  Sausages: 219,443 pairs
  Roast chickens: 459,279

Here in K-W our Oktoberfest Mascot is "Onkel Hans"

He is a very happy man...

He has a female counterpart named Tente Gertrude...

I could not find a picture of her...
